Kerryanne Harding is Luke Harding's younger sister who died from a brain tumour before she had started school. Her father never recovered from his daughter's death, and often drinks alcohol. He is angry at himself because as a doctor, he should have been able to cure Kerryanne.
Luke can remember the last night Kerryanne was alive, which was spent underneath the stars, wrapped in a blanket with his parents and little sister.
